Making progress

I've finally found some time to really get focused on this project. I am 90% decided on the final interior design. It's been an interesting challenge as I have to consider every inch of space and the purpose it has. And materials can't be chosen on aesthetics alone. I have to think about weight, durability in extreme cold and heat as well as flexibility and rigidity going down the road. This is the plan...today.

Layout
For the most part, the layout is staying the same. I'm replacing the twin beds in the rear with a single queen size bed. The living room area will go from an L-lounge sofa to a single sofa bed with a funky, swivel chair. I'm also adding a media closet to house a new sound system, satellite hookups and Blu-ray player. The bathroom will be expanded by a couple of inches (makes a huge difference). The kitchen will get new cabinets, convection microwave, new gas/electric fridge, water filtration system and cook top. Sliding doors made of bamboo encased in frosted acrylic for the bathroom and as dividers for the front space and the bedroom.

Color & style
The look is going to be more contemporary than retro. If this was a '60s or '50s trailer, that would be different. There will be some vintage touches in the lighting and trim.

• The walls will be a soft, linen white with Shitake (appearance of cork) Marmoleum floors.
• The cabinets and wall partitions will be a mixture of stainless steel and ribbon-mahogany veneer. I'm considering applying the veneer in a pattern that looks like a series of tree branches have cut through it.
• Unless I change my mind (again), I'm going with a charcoal sleeper sofa from West Elm. I've looked at every sofa made, and this was the perfect size, color, comfort and look I wanted.
•Accent colors will be silvery-blues.
• 2" airplane lights (the ones used on the current CCD Airstreams) will run down the center from front to back. May install LED bulbs that use 12% of the energy of halogens.

Mechanicals
I'm getting rid of the MagicChef beast of an oven. Who needs that? Also going to splurge and get a tankless water heater. Both for energy efficiency and size (it's nearly 10 inches narrower than the standard 6-gallon water heater that was there and that Airstream STILL installs.) The rest is either a necessary upgrade or luxury I wanted.
